   Try Paint.net its free and works great. Not as many features as Photoshop but its works good enough for me. Theres also Jasc Paintshop Pro, its not free but its almost exactly like Photoshop. You can get that on Ebay for about 10 bucks. Also you can browse around on Download.com under Photo Editing.

   the free photoshop, much more powerful than picasa but lacks many filters and effects that photoshop has.

   friendlier than gimp and closed source. pretty similar to gimp in features. great gui.
   i recommend getting the photoshop trial and buying it eventually. i know its 150 dollars but it couldn’t be more worth it.

   Gimpshot is like photoshop but just not as good, try it out, just depends on how expirenced you are and what sort editing you need to do. Type gimpshop into google.

   Gimp is probably what you’re looking for. it is a free software similar to Photoshop only with less features.

    Just a note of interest.
    AdobePhotoshop CS is a very expensive program. They do offer a 30 Free trial.
    Remember you are not going to find a top of the line photo editing program FREE.
    Yes there are several different software brands available, your best bet for free is a Google search for FREE PHOTO EDITING SOFTWARE.
    Also remember free software is fair at best compared to the Professional Photo Editing Software, like Adobe Products.
    Elements is under $30.00 and it is one of the many Adobe Products.
